About the Hoya Bella

Hoya bella, the miniature wax plant, comes from Southeast Asia’s forest canopies, where she drapes from branches and bathes in gentle, filtered light. Indoors, Belle brings soft romance: cascading vines, neat spear-shaped leaves, and porcelain clusters of starry blooms that release a light evening perfume.

She thrives in bright, indirect light and tolerates partial shade; avoid harsh sun. Water when the top layer dries, then drain well—little and often during growth. Use a free-draining mix and a snug pot, and resist overwatering. A quick leaf wipe keeps her glossy; a small trellis or hanging perch shows off the fall.

A quick leaf wipe keeps her glossy; a small trellis or hanging perch shows off the fall. We ship her snug and secure so she arrives fresh and ready to settle in—compact enough for shelves, consoles, and bedside corners.

Did you know?

Hoya bella often blooms on the same spurs year after year. Never cut the spent flower stalks—leave them in place and Belle will return with more tiny stars each season, especially with steady light and gentle care.

Why the bedroom?

This plant is perfect for the bedroom because it brings instant calm and delicate charm with minimal effort. Her fine, trailing vines make a graceful statement, while subtly freshening the air you breathe. Since she’s pet friendly and compact, she’s ideal for stylish, lived-in spaces. Low-maintenance, air-cleansing, and full of presence—Belle was made for this room.

Position: Tabletop

Place Belle where light is bright and indirect—by a sheer-curtained window or a few metres back. She shines on a Tabletop, shelf, or hanging perch, with space to trail or climb a small trellis. Keep her from radiators, drafts, and blasting AC. Use a snug pot and free-draining mix, rotate monthly, and never remove her flowering spurs after the blooms have faded.

Growth Habit: Trailing

Plants with stems that dangle over the edge of pots and elegantly trail towards the ground.

Soil: Well-Draining

Choose a well-draining, airy mix so Belle’s roots stay oxygenated yet lightly moist. Use premium potting soil cut with chunky perlite, orchid bark, and a touch of coco coir; add pumice if you have it. Avoid dense, peat-heavy blends and waterlogged pots. Pot snug with drainage, let water run through, then reset between drinks—damp, never dense—for steady growth and blooms indoors year-round.

Propagation: Stem Cuttings

Propagate Hoya bella by STEM CUTTINGS. Take a 10–12 cm tip cutting with at least one node and a pair of leaves. Remove the lowest leaf, then root the node in water or a free-draining mix (perlite + potting soil). Keep warm, bright-indirect, and lightly moist. Do not use leaf-only cuttings. Air-layer long vines first for higher success, then pot when roots form.

Bright, Indirect

Belle thrives in bright, indirect light; morning sun is fine, harsh midday isn’t. Place her by a sheer-curtained window. Water lightly when the top layer dries, then drain; gritty mix prevents soggy roots.

Moderate

Give Belle moderate watering: let the top layer dry, then water lightly and drain. Weekly in growth, less in winter. Use a fast-draining mix, avoid soggy roots, and keep water at room temperature.

Green Thumb

Belle prefers bright, indirect light, light but regular watering, and a snug pot with fast-draining mix. Avoid overwatering, harsh sun, and cold drafts. Rotate monthly; don’t remove flower spurs.

Medium

Belle prefers medium, steady humidity with gentle airflow. Keep her away from heaters and blasting AC. Group with plants or use a pebble tray; avoid wetting flowers—mist around, not on blooms, in summer.
