About Tillandsia

Tillandsia, the classic air plant, drifts from cloud forests into calm bedrooms with sculptural ease. In the LED stand, Tilly and Andy float like living sketches—slender, silvered leaves catching light and movement. They love bright, indirect glow and gentle airflow; shield from harsh sun and cold drafts.

Once a week, soak them fully, shake excess water, and let them dry within an hour. Between soaks, a light mist keeps tips supple. No soil, no mess—mounts and pebbles are perfect.

Wipe the stand, dust the leaves, and rotate monthly for even poise. We ship them secure and cushioned so they arrive fresh, healthy, and undamaged—ready to settle bedside. Low-maintenance, quietly cleansing, and endlessly modern, these epiphytes add a calm, celestial note to night-time routines.

Did you know?

Tillandsias breathe through specialized leaf scales called trichomes; they sip moisture and nutrients from the air, which is why distilled or rainwater keeps them flawless indoors. Avoid copper wire and fertilizer high in urea indoors.

Why the bedroom?

These plants are perfect for the bedroom because they bring instant serenity and modern charm with minimal effort. Their airy rosettes glow in soft light while subtly freshening the air. Pet friendly and compact, they suit stylish, lived-in spaces. Low-maintenance, quietly cleansing, and full of presence—Tilly and Andy were made for this room.

Position: Tabletop

Stage Tilly and Andy on a Bedroom bedside Tabletop or shelf near bright, indirect light—by a sheer-curtained window works well. Give open airflow, avoid radiators and blasting AC. Keep them out of direct sun and steamy showers. Use the LED stand or a hanging frame; rotate monthly. After weekly soaks, return once fully dry to prevent moisture buildup on leaves and bases.

Growth Habit: Rosette

Stems that fan out from a central point.

Soil: No Soil

Tillandsias don’t use soil—roots anchor only. Give them a mount (cork, driftwood, wire-free frame) or set on pebbles in the LED stand so air can circulate. If styling in a bowl, keep medium dry and inert. After soaking, shake well and air-dry quickly. Avoid sphagnum packed around bases, water-holding crystals, and anything that traps moisture—especially in cool bedroom nights—to prevent issues.

Propagation: Plantlets & Offsets

Propagate Tillandsia by PLANTLETS + OFFSETS. After flowering, pups emerge at the base. When each pup reaches one-third to half the size of the parent, gently twist or cut away with sterile tools. Mount on cork or place back in the stand. Mist cut points, provide bright, indirect light, and resume weekly soaks after seven days to avoid rot and drying thoroughly.

Bright, Indirect

Bright, indirect light suits them; avoid direct sun. Place by a sheer-curtained window. Soak weekly, shake dry, and ensure airflow. Lower light slows growth, so keep a consistent soak schedule through the year.

Moderate

Weekly soaking suits them: submerge 20–30 minutes, shake off, then air-dry within an hour. Mist lightly between soaks in warm weather. Use rain or distilled water; never leave water trapped in leaf bases.

Novice

Bright, indirect light, weekly soaks, and no soil keep Tilly and Andy happy. Shake dry and air-dry, avoid harsh sun and drafts. Clean leaves, rotate monthly, and they’ll stay effortless.

Medium

Tilly and Andy prefer medium humidity and gentle airflow. Aim around home levels; avoid steamy bathrooms. If air runs dry, mist lightly after soaks or set near a pebble tray—never leave water trapped.
